2020: What’s happening and what’s to come at Cardinal

At Cardinal, our 2020 resolution is all about building our existing capabilities and expanding our reach in the latest protocols. At the same time, we will continue to emphasize strong data solutions—that’s an ongoing resolution we’ve kept!

Currently, we are building out exemption management capabilities for PSD2’s Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirement in Europe. As you know, PSD2 SCA’s revised deadline is the end of this year, and anyone issuing or acquiring in Europe needs to be ready by then as there won’t be any more extensions. The Cardinal team has stayed ahead of the curve to meet the demands of these mandates. New capabilities we will be rolling out in early 2020 include tools and products to enhance merchant and issuer compliance.

We’re also expanding our reach in supporting 3-D Secure (3DS) through regional networks. In addition to supporting Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover/Diners and JCB for 3DS 1.0, Cardinal will be supporting all of these networks plus some others for EMV® 3-D Secure. By expanding our networks for 3DS, Cardinal can help consumers complete CNP transactions in a timely fashion.

If you’re a merchant with a lot of mobile app payments, you’ll be interested in the software development kits (SDKs) that Cardinal will be rolling out in 2020.

Right about the time flowers pop up in springtime, Cardinal will be talking more about new and emerging data solutions. Designed to lift authorization rates in the U.S. market, these solutions will continue to reinforce our belief that data is perhaps the most crucial piece of the authentication puzzle.

It’s already a busy 2020 here at Cardinal. The work we are doing is designed to strengthen and simplify the processes that our customers rely on. We look forward to sharing each new item with you throughout the year.
